The African Union invited the Ethiopian government and the Tigray rebels to negotiations in South Africa. Both parties accepted the invitation and on the following days they would have peace talks. The situation in the Tigray Region is really difficult-more than 500.000 civilians have been killed. 6.8 million are in need of emergency food aid, 2.3 million children need humanitarian assistance, 2.2 million people have been displaced, 120.000 survivors of sexual and gender-based violence and 70.000 refugees fled to Sudan.
