Wang Enlin, a farmer in China, spent 16 years studying law to sue a case of Qihua Chemical Group company accusing it of contaminating their soil and rendering it untenable for crops. The farmer, who left school when he was 10 years old, couldn’t afford law books so he gave his local bookstore owner corn in exchange for letting him read and copy information by hand.
