We thank God for the innovative efforts of people to save our common home and to respond to their people’s needs. Paul Waweru, a Kenyan high school teacher, is using old laptop batteries to turn petrol-powered bikes into electric ones. He buys old batteries, checks them and takes the cells that can still hold a decent charge. Once he has enough, he configures them into battery packs to replace the internal combustion engines of existing scooters and bikes. A fully charged battery can travel 100 km.
