On Wednesday 1 March 2023, a train crash in Greece killed at least 43 people and 72 were injured. Due to the impact, some of the passenger carriages were exploited. According to the Prime Minister, human error has caused the collision between a cargo train and a passenger train. Authorities arrested the stationmaster at the train’s last stop in Larissa. Most of the victims were young people and eight rail employees. Greek students are protesting, explaining that the government failed to improve rail network safety.
