We thank God for the startups that have emerged to provide alternatives to the production and use of plastic. Sway the Future is a biotechnology enterprise founded in the coastal town of Carmel, California, USA, to produce packaging from seaweed. After working as a designer for brand packaging systems, Julia Marsh (CEO and Co-funder) committed to finding alternative packaging solutions. During her master’s thesis, she experimented with seaweed to replace single-use plastic. Two years later, 10 people joined her startup.
