Let’s pray for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where more than 80 people died after a boat carrying 270 passengers sank on the night of June 12 near the capital, Kinshasa. This is not the first time such an incident has occurred in the DRC; vessels are frequently overloaded in remote areas where people cannot afford public transport on the available roads. The DRC is already suffering from internal violence that exacerbates poverty, perpetuates unjust systems, and deprives people of their rights.
