Let’s pray for Sri Lanka that during the last weeks the citizens have been protesting due to shortages of fuel, power, food, drugs and other items. The protest started a month ago and has intensified in recent days demanding the overthrow of Rajapaksa, Sri Lanka’s president. The health system has been affected and is on an emergency status. May God give understanding and wisdom to the authorities to hear the cry of their people and their claims.

In Brazil, around 6000 indigenous people from 176 different groups marched on Wednesday towards the National Congress as part of a 10-day annual protest demanding the protection of Indigenous land and rights. They are pressing Congress not to pass legislation that intends to open the protected lands to commercial mining and agribusiness, which the government is failing to control. Let’s pray for the indigenous people, while we maintain our efforts to work together to claim their rights and to protect the Amazon rainforest.

On Friday 25 March 2022, Pope Francis consecrated all humanity – especially Ukraine and Russia – to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This action is a “spiritual act of trust amid a cruel war”. This consecration was done during the Lenten penitential service in the St. Peter’s Basilica at the feast of the Annunciation. Pope Francis did this in communion with all Catholic Bishops around the world.
