Let’s pray for all farmers around the world. In recent days, Indian farmers have been teargassed by the country’s security forces, who fired water cannons and tear gas in an attempt to disperse them. The farmers are demanding greater support, price guarantees for their products, and loan forgiveness. Authorities have detained a number of farmers and suspended internet services. This is a means of controlling information to prevent a repeat of the 2021 protests, during which dozens died and farmers camped in the city for over a year.

We thank God for all efforts to care for both people and the planet. In Senegal, a women’s cooperative named Mboga Yaye (Good Serrer) in Joal Fadiouth, south of Dakar, has learned how to produce honey, build hives, and peacefully interact with bees. Together with 67 other women, they have become beekeepers, providing income and protecting the biodiversity of the mangrove, which is affected by climate change and deforestation.

We pray for Pakistan, where a twin bombing has claimed the lives of at least 28 people. These attacks, claimed by ISIL, targeted campaign offices of candidates in Balochistan province. Borders with Afghanistan and Iraq have been closed. Violence has escalated in the province due to its strategic importance, known for minerals such as copper, zinc, and natural gas. These explosions raise concerns about safety during the elections, leading to the deployment of police and paramilitary forces across the country.

Let’s pray for Chile, where wildfires have claimed 122 victims in the Valparaiso region. Authorities report that two hundred people are missing in Viña del Mar, a popular beach area. The president has declared a state of emergency as people strive to recover from the disaster. These fires followed record temperatures in the country, coupled with low humidity and high wind speeds in central Chile due to El Niño. Scientists warn that such weather conditions can exacerbate disasters worldwide due to the high temperatures caused by climate change.

We thank God for the numerous religious congregations and faith-based organizations worldwide that provide support to migrants. In Cadiz, Spain, the Catholic networks have been assisting migrants in overcoming adversity and rebuilding their lives. The stories of three migrants from Guinea Conakry, Cameroon and Morocco help us to understand how they rebuild their lives thanks to Fr. Gabriel Delgado, other associations as Cardijn and the Franciscan Sisters of Flock of Mary.

We thank God for people caring for the planet and future generations. Argentinean cloth designer, Romina Palma, observed that after rain and storms in Buenos Aires, a significant number of umbrellas were left on the streets. The project began in the Social Sewing Club, a space dedicated to community environmental education through textile craft. Romina then founded Cazaparaguas, a startup dedicated to reusing umbrella fabrics by creating jackets and ponchos. Upon receiving the materials, they clean and condition the fabrics, cutting them to design the clothes.
